Your Pre-Winter Furnace Checklist

Nov 26, 2021 | Blog, Furnace, Heating, HVAC, OH, Ohio, Washington Court House, WCH, Winter

There are days where you will feel the pressure of breaking cycles. It may take a lot out of you at times because you may be the “go-to” person in your family. However, even though you feel as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and usually carry your to-do list in your head, it’s time to have everything down on paper. Because of this, Washington Court House Heating & Cooling, our expert technicians created this checklist as a helpful tool for any homeowner to use this winter. All homeowners should look at the list below and trust that this checklist will make your life 20 times easier. And guess what? You’ll thank us later.

  • Protect Your Pipes-  Frozen pipes and leaks are not cheap. You can go to your nearest home improvement store to get foam insulation.
  • Check Attic Insulation– Heat rises, so most likely, the most significant heat loss will be in your attic if you have one. Check to be sure you have enough insulation.
  • Check Your Fireplace. Homeowners’ worst nightmare is small animals creeping inside your fireplace.
  • Get Your Annual Tune-Up & Safety Check- Think of a furnace tune-up as an insurance policy in that technicians will identify and repair any minor problem with your furnace before they develop into bigger issues.
  • Inspect Electrical Components- One of the most critical parts of your heating system. Electrical Components can be a hazard to your home if not inspected often.
  • Check Thermostat Settings– This will help ensure your thermostat responds to the programming and any changes.
  • Filter Changes- This will help with air quality in your home. You may not need to change your filter as often as you think, but getting in the habit of checking to see would ensure a healthy home.

Be sure to use our pre-furnace checklist from our Washington Court House Heating & Cooling expert technicians in order to maintain a healthy home this winter season.

Have you tested your furnace for the winter? Or do you need a professional to test for you?
